Mikhail Nikolozovich Saakashvili, who is the former President of Georgia, put up a new charge. This time, he is accused of spending state funds. This message was published by local media, referring to the Prosecutor General of Georgia.
The report says that the amount allegedly spent on the needs of Saakashvili is five million dollars (about 8.8 million Georgian Lari). According to the prosecutor’s office, the money went to Saakashvili’s personal needs: massage, hotels, the services of the cook, buying gold, renting a yacht in Italy. The money was spent by the special service of the state guard by decree of Mikhail Nikolozovich. When Saakashvili was still as president, he personally controlled the state security service. But after another political figure came to power, the service was removed from his subordination, and the relevant data became public public. On the basis of declassified documents, the ruling coalition charged Saakashvili of the misuse of the state budget. According to deputy Irina Imerslishvili, information was found in the documents received that the former president of Saakashvili celebrated the New Year in Dubai surrounded by his colleagues and friends in 2013, about 150 thousand dollars from the state budget of Georgia were spent on this. In addition, the service under the control of Mikhail Saakashvili allocated money for expensive gifts for relatives of the ex-president. Last spring, the Georgian prosecutor’s office began an investigation in this case, but information about its results did not betray. Mikhail Nikolozovich rejects the charges and says the money was spent on popularizing the country and attracting investments.
