London Airport – Khitrovo will not be able to, as planned earlier to completely restore its work even after Christmas holidays. The British newspaper “The Guardian” reports this on December twenty -first.
The restrictions on the number of flights that were introduced due to past snowfalls will be valid for at least the twenty-second December. So it is reported that in the indicated period only one of the usually available three runways will work. Even if on Thursday all three stripes return to work, it is most likely that the airport’s capacities are not enough to compensate for the abolished flights by Christmas holidays. At the same time, almost all passengers were offered to transfer their flights precisely for the period after Christmas.
According to the British Minister of Transport – Philip Hammond, attempts to restore the work of Khitrou on the eighteenth of December on the existing situation. As a result, the snow that was reduced led to another overload and complete paralysis of the transport hub.
Recall that last week, due to abundant snowfalls at all airports of the UK, regular restrictions were introduced. The leadership of the London airports had to cancel many flights, which led to a large accumulation of people in Khitrovo. At this time, an appeal to passengers has been published on the British Air School website. People are asked not to come in it if their flight is not on the list on the specified day.
Strong snowfalls led to a temporary stop of another airport in the British capital – Gatwikik. It also introduced stiff restrictions on the number of flights. The airport was able to resume work only today. An announcement has also been published on his website, according to which it is possible that flights will continue to be deposited or cancel.
The work of the Stasted Airport, which is located in Essex, located northeast of London, has already been fully restored. However, his operator allows re -introduction of restrictions. The work of the Edinburgh airport is also established. The Birmingham airport returned to full capacities, but at this time its extreme workload is reported.
Note that snowfalls caused a violation of transport communication not only in the UK, but also in some other countries of Europe. So the regular restrictions also affected: Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
There are no exact forecasts regarding when snowfalls stop. Commenting on the situation, the British Minister of Transport suggested that, most likely, the case is a radical climate change, which means that it is worth thinking about the development of new technologies that in the future can help avoid such “air proxy”.
