Dozens of cars stolen from driveways in the Greater Toronto area have been found on the other side of the world and returned to Canada.
According to the York Regional Police, 64 stolen cars worth $3.5 million were found in cargo containers in the Republic of Malta “ready for illegal sale.”
Since then, the cars have been returned to their homeland with the assistance of the Canadian Border Service (CBSA) and the Port Authority of Malta.
According to police, investigators believe that all the cars were stolen from the driveways of the Greater Toronto area by members of a gang of car thieves, which for several years was the subject of an investigation dubbed “Project Majestic”.
As part of this investigation, 18 people were arrested in March 2021.
Then the police also seized 70 stolen cars worth $ 4.5 million.
